Our Youth and Family Ministry at Gloria Dei is a congregational effort. Whether it be educating our youth, serving as mentors, supporting the youth in various fundraisers, or simply having a conversation after worship, the community of Gloria Dei is quick and eager to support the faith development of our youth and families.
As with most youth and family ministries, Gloria Dei provides a number of opportunities for children, youth, and families to explore and strengthen their faith.
We are offering Sunday School on Sunday mornings for ALL AGES! Including our older youth who have either been confirmed or are currently in the process of being confirmed. Our time on Sunday morning will be spent digging deeper into the text for the day and learning about the promises that have been given to us and how we can act on them in a real, tangible way. Come and check it out!
Children meet in the Sanctuary after service for children’s choir and then go to their class.
The children are divided into groups according to age:
Group 1 ages 2-5
Group 2 ages 6-9
Group 3 ages 10 and up
Groups 1 and 2 are using the Sola Publishing Sunday Schoolhouse Curriculum. Stories from the Beginning (Old Testament). These classes are taught by four families, each taking one Sunday a month through the school year.
Group 3, ages 10 and up (Confirmation Age), is using the Hurlbut Bible Curriculum.
For the young adults in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, we are sharing confirmation classes with 3 other churches in Anchorage (Central Lutheran, Lutheran Church of Hope, and St. Mark Lutheran). We meet at Central Lutheran Church at 4pm Sunday afternoons. This year we are focusing on Martin Luther’s Small Catechism.
Vacation Bible School
